Our Mission Statement
We here at SLO Grown Produce
are dedicated to serving our customers in an honest and positive way.
We will do this by producing a very high quality, clean product
for our customers in San Luis Obispo County and beyond...

We grow many types of crops at our farm on the Central Coast of California.
Tomatoes (indoor and out), European cucumbers, four flavors of basil, a variety of colored bell peppers,
sweet corn, eggplant, green beans and more...
Our greenhouse covers a half an acre (21,600 sq. feet)
We carefully select our seed for the flavorful fruit it produces and for it's shelf life.
We use lots of beneficial insects, such as lady bugs and small wasps,
to eat the "bad bugs" instead of using harmful sprays and insecticides.
We use docile bumble bees to pollinate the plants too.
*****
Margie, one of our customers in Baywood Park, asked how to store tomatoes...
Margie...We recommend you store them at room temperature.
Tomatoes lose flavor when they get cold...we suggest you buy the smallest you need for that salad,
(save those big tomatoes for a good slice on a sandwich!)
When you buy a smaller tomato, you can finish it in one sitting, then you don't have any leftovers to refrigerate.
We pick fresh for each farmer's market, so our tomatoes usually last a good week or more, right on your countertop.
You MAY store them stem side down, if you like. They keep longer that way.
We just keep ours in a pretty bowl or basket...
We grow a very firm French variety. We like them because they keep well,
and they have a nice sweet flavor.
